It’s that most wonderful time of the year again!  Crisp, cold air, Holiday music, hot cocoa and peppermint scents, red and green all over the stores.

 

While there are some Holiday events in the area that are sadly not happening this year, there are still many to look forward to. 

 

Check out what we have gathered so far.  If you know of more events in the East Contra Costa cities of Brentwood, Oakley, Discovery Bay, and Antioch, please send them to us at Brentwood Events, so we can update our listing.

 

 

Holiday Parade, Winter Walk About, and Restaurant Tasting Tour on November 22, 2013 (Saturday) from 2:00 – 8:00 PM in Downtown Brentwood

Winter Walk About from 2:00 to 5:00 pm. Arts and crafts boutiques, kids crafts and treats in all shops. There will be a “Santa’s Village” inside All Inked Up Bookstore, hot chocolate and Christmas carolers. Come one, come all!

Downtown Tasting Tour from 2:00 to 5:00 pm, $15 per person, only 300 tickets available. Enjoy cuisine samples from Downtown restaurants including MJ’s Café, Sweeney’s, La Fuente, CoCo County Wine Company, Pho Vietnam, Orleans, TLCakes, and Caps. Tickets are available at Cre’me dela Gem Jewelry (925-516-6200) and CoCo County Wine Store (925-634-9463).

 

32nd Annual Lighted Holiday Parade “Christmas Stories” starting at 5:30 p.m. Parade route starts on First Street at Chestnut, proceeds to Maple, Maple to Second Street, ends at corner of Second and Oak.

 

These events are presented by the Downtown Brentwood Coalition and the Brentwood Chamber of Commerce. Check out the event flyer here.

 

Lunch with Santa on November 22 (Saturday). Welcome Santa to The Streets of Brentwood, and have a light lunch with the big guy on Saturday, November 22, from 12:00 - 1:30 pm inside Santa's Place, near Lenscrafters. There will be free games, prizes, and limited selfies with Santa at the Winter Barnyard vignette during the event. First-come, first served. Santa will be available for portraits in his living room in Santa's Place from 1:30 - 7:00pm. For pricing and RSVP information, check out the Streets of Brentwood site.


Holiday Skate at the Antioch Indoor Sports Center on November 28, 2014 (Friday). Bring the family and skate to your favorite Holiday music. Play games and win prizes. Session 1 from 12:00 -2:00 pm, and Session 2 from 4:00 – 6:00 pm. Admission is $10 and includes rental skates. Spectators are free of charge for this event. Hot cocoa and other refreshment will be available for purchase. Check out the East County Live! events details.


Christmas Tree Lighting Event on November 29 (Saturday), 6:00-8:00 p.m. Enjoy a night of music, family entertainment, and giveaways at the Streets of Brentwood. Special appearances by:

• Liberty High School Chamber Singer
• Joel R. Bryant, The City of Brentwood Vice Mayor
• Santa Claus
• Carina Lia, fast emerging new artist from Gig Harbor, Washington, originally from Antioch

The City of Brentwood’s Annual Christmas Tree Lighting on December 5, 2014 (Friday) at the Brentwood Community Center and City Park in Downtown Brentwood (35 Oak Street). Festivities start at 6:00 pm and include music, singing, and hot drinks, followed at 7:00 pm by the official lighting of the Christmas tree. Visit Santa after the tree lighting! This event is sponsored by the City of Brentwood and the Brentwood Advisory Neighborhood Committee (BANC). Check out the event flyer here.


Freedom Highschool PTSA Holiday Boutique on December 6, 2014 (Saturday)
, from 9:00 am – 3:00 pm at the Multipurpose Room, Freedom High School, 1050 Neroly Road, Oakley CA. There will be photos with Santa and raffle prizes and Christmas trees from Kaleidoscope available to purchase.  Over 50 vendors for your Holiday shopping needs! The 12th Annual Discovery Bay Parade of Lights and Tree Lighting Ceremony on December 6, 2014 (Saturday). Activities start at 3:00 p.m. with a visit with Santa at the Discovery Bay Marina. Parade starts at 6:00 p.m. and Tree Lighting at 7:30 p.m. More information here.


The City of Oakley’s Christmas Tree Lighting on December 6, 2014 (Saturday) at 4:00 p.m. at the Oakley Civic Center Plaza. Includes caroling, crafts, cookies, hot cocoa, and more! Be sure to bring your camera for photos with Santa. Check out Oakley’s Fall/Winter Recreation Guide for more details.


Holiday de Lites Event 2014 @ Downtown Antioch on December 6, 2014 (Saturday). Celebrate Antioch Foundation is bringing back the Holiday De Lites parade, city tree lighting and Santa Claus to Antioch on Saturday, December 6th. The parade will start at 4 pm at 2nd and E streets, proceed down 2nd to I, around City Hall to 3rd street and return down 3rd to the dirt lot at 3rd and D streets. Santa Claus will stop and stage at City Hall parking lot to greet the children. Families will be able to take pictures of their children with Santa.

 

The memorial tree in the center of City Hall parking lot will be lit at about 5:30 pm. The parade should be over by 6 pm, just in time for everyone to enjoy the lighted boat parade on the river. This year’s theme is “Celebrate Antioch, Joy of the Holidays.” More information here.


The 38th Annual Holiday Run & Walk for Health on December 13, 2014 (Saturday). Registration starts at 7:30 am, Contra Loma Regional Park, 1200 Frederickson Lane, Antioch, CA. This race event will benefit local schools, youth, and libraries. For more information on the event and how to register, check out their event website at http://www.holidayrun.org.


Breakfast with Santa on December 13, 2014 (Saturday) at 10:00 a.m. at the Oakley Recreation Building, 1250 O’Hara Ave. Fee is $5 per person. This includes a continental breakfast of pastries, fruit, juice, milk, and coffee. Children will receive a gift from Santa. Bring your camera to capture the moment with Santa! Santa Arrival on December 13, 2013 (Saturday) from 12:00 noon – 2:00 pm at the Sand Creek Crossing. More details here at our Brentwood Events calendar.

 

The Ballet Company of East County presents its 10th annual production of The Nutcracker on December 19-21, 2014 at the El Campanil Theater in Antioch, CA. Scheduled performances are on December 19 (7pm), December 20 (12pm and 4pm) and December 21 (12pm and 4pm).

The Nutcracker is a timeless holiday tradition that brings a young girl’s Christmas dream to life. This beautiful production is geared towards children’s enjoyment but will also entertain the young at heart. Free photo session with cast members before the 4:00 pm shows.
