Holiday 2016 Events in Brentwood and East Contra Costa County
The Holiday Season is upon us once again!
The season started merrily with Downtown Brentwood’s Winter Walkabout and Tasting Tour and the 34th Annual Brentwood Chamber of Commerce Holiday Parade last Saturday, November 19. Below, we have gathered some information on other upcoming events and activities in the area this winter holiday season.

The Welcome Santa and Tree Lighting Event 2016 at the Streets of Brentwood is on November 26, 20156 (Saturday) 7:00-8:00 p.m. at the Center Court Promenade. For more information about this event, check out the Streets of Brentwood Events Page.
Brentwood’s Annual Christmas Tree Lighting will take place on Friday, December 2, 2016 at 6:00 p.m. at the City Park in Downtown Brentwood. Festivities start at 6:00 p.m. and include music, singing, and a visit from Santa Claus, followed at 7:00 p.m. by the official lighting of the Christmas tree. The holiday happening is sponsored by the City of Brentwood and the Brentwood advisory Neighborhood Committee (BANC). Check out the event flyer here.
The Discovery Bay Chamber Breakfast with Santa and Canned Food and Toy Drive Event is on Saturday, December 3, 2016 at 8:00–10:30 a.m. It will be in Santa’s Big White Tent on Discovery Bay Boulevard near the Community Center. Canned food on unopened toy donations are appreciated. For more information, check out the Discovery Bay Chamber of Commerce website.
Oakley’s Christmas Tree Lighting is on December 3, 2016 (Saturday) at the Oakley City Hall, 3231 Main Street, Oakley. The event will start at 4:00 p.m. performances by the Oakley school choirs. There will be make-n-take crafts for the children and cookies and cocoa for all. Non-profit groups will have booths with games and giveaways. The Civic Center Plaza will be bright and colorful with all the holiday decorations. Santa will be on hand to visit with children and pose for photos so be sure to bring your camera! The Discovery Bay Parade of Lights Event is on December 3, 2016 at 5:00 p.m. The route will be from the Yacht Harbor to the Community Center. Check or call the Discovery Bay Chamber of Commerce for more information.
Hometown Holiday Decorating Contest (Oakley), now thru December 8, 2016. The City of Oakley Hometown Holiday Decorating Contest is a festive way to show your community pride and spread holiday cheer. The contest is open to all Oakley residents and is limited to the front yard, front of the house, and roof only – no professionally installed decorations and no businesses please. Entries will be accepted thru December 8th at 5:00 p.m. and will be posted online at www.oakleyinfo.com for voting. Entry forms are available at http://www.ci.oakley.ca.us/recreation/hometowndecoratingcontest/. The Breakfast with Santa at the Oakley Recreation Building, 1250 O’Hara Avenue, Oakley is on December 10, 2016 (Saturday) at 10:00 a.m. The fee is $7 per person and includes a continental breakfast of pastries, fruit, juice, milk, and cocoa. Children will receive a gift from Santa who will take time out of his busy schedule to join us for breakfast and visit with children. Parents may bring cameras to capture these special moments. Santa's Arrival at Sand Creek Crossing on December 10, 2016 (Saturday) 1:00-3:00 p.m. Come and enjoy this FREE event with Santa and friends, street entertainment, horse-drawn carriage rides and more! The Second Annual Holiday BOWtique is on Sunday, December 11, at the Shadow Lakes Event Center, 401 W. Country Club Drive, Brentwood. There will be vendors, raffle, and photos with Santa (pets are welcome). Come do some Christmas shopping while supporting a great cause. Snowman in the Park at City Park in Downtown Brentwood, December 12-22, 2016. Design and build your own Snowman/Snowgirl/Snow people/Snow scene. Displays run in the Brentwood City Park from December 12 through 22. Every night from 6:00-8:00 p.m., Snow in the Park photo opportunities will be available. Families can come down to the park and enjoy Christmas music, lighted snowman plots, and snow will magically appear on the Christmas tree and in the park for snow fun. You can sign up with the Parks & Recreation Department to build your snowman. Entry is $16. Ribbons will be awarded for non-professional and design professional.
New Year in Paris at the Brentwood Senior Activity Center, 193 Griffith Lane, Brentwood on December 31, 2016 (Saturday). Doors open at 12:00 noon, lunch at 12:30 p.m. Come join the party to ring in 2017! Event includes a balloon drop, New Year’s favors and Champagne Toast at 3PM. New Year’s French themed buffet dinner will include Chicken Cordon Bleu and dessert. No host bar. Special performance by “Little Felipe”.
