Brentwood is becoming a shopping destination in the
Contra Costa County. The Streets of Brentwood
opened in October 2008 and its continued
introduction of more stores have attracted shoppers
not only from Brentwood, but also from neighboring
towns like Antioch, Oakley, Discovery Bay, Knightsen,
Pittsburg, Tracy, and Mountain House.
And while the rate of development of strip malls,
stores, and restaurants slowed down from the boom a
few years ago, the Brentwood community still has
several things to look forward to and be excited
about.
New Restaurant Openings
Among the new restaurant or coffee shop openings are
Rico’s Pizza along Balfour Road, Chopsticks and
Little Caesar's Pizza along Lone Tree Way, and Code
Brew Coffee at the Streets of Brentwood. Soon
to open are Happy Sushi, The Game Pizza and Pub,
Nation’s Hamburger, Bangkok 101, a new
location for Grazie! Italian Cuisine and
Martini Bar and an additional location for Yogurt Pizazz.

Sciortino Ranch
Hazel Wetherford, Brentwood’s Economic Development
Assistant shared with me that a new mixed-used
community is being built along Brentwood Boulevard.
Sciortino Ranch, a 65-acre site, will have a blend
of retail stores, shops, restaurants, professional
offices, and residential properties. Find out more
information about this at
their website.
Ms. Wetherford also believes that what helped the
city cushion the impact of the economic slowdown is
the success of the Streets of Brentwood. More
Brentwood shopping means more sales tax revenue for the city,
and though people are spending more cautiously, they
are spending, nonetheless.
Streets of Brentwood
The Streets is abuzz with activities all throughout
the holiday season with more being planned next
year. General Manager Tracey Nobil explained that as
a lifestyle center, the Streets of Brentwood strives
to have events and activities that fit the needs and
lifestyle of the community. The Holiday Ice Skating
Rink opened to the public on November 14th, and will
remain open until January 10th. The Streets
also hosted its Holiday Wish Tree Lighting on
November 20th, and will have a Christmas tree lot, a
community holiday boutique, and several fundraising
activities to benefit local non-profit groups.
With all these events planned, there really is
something for everyone in the family, so don’t just
drive by – check inside, because there’s plenty to
see!
In addition, several new establishments have either
recently opened, or are set to open in the next
several weeks, among them: GLAMOR’A by Sadia, Code
Brew Coffee (yes, a coffee shop!), Bangkok 101 (A
Thai restaurant), Grazie!, Wine Loft, Subway, and
Yogurt Pizazz. There’s another retailer coming up
that Ms. Nobil cannot divulge yet – but promises to
do so as soon as she can!
We are working
on a special feature on Downtown Brentwood – watch
out for it!
Likewise, we
will be sharing with you updates on new strip malls,
restaurants, and stores in the area that we know of
on a more regular basis – watch out for our next
update in Spring 2010.
Did we miss a
newly opened or a soon-to-open restaurant or retail
store?
Please let us know so we can share with our readers.
We appreciate it! |
