Anybody up for some Brentwood shopping?
One of the main questions potential residents have when they consider moving to Brentwood is... where do we go for shopping? As a potential resident, wouldn't you want to make sure that you could do all your necessary shopping within a 10-minute drive?
Within a 10-minute drive from where we live, I can go to Safeway, Raley's, Trader Joe's, Winco, Walgreens, Barnes and Noble, Ross, TJ Maxx, Target, Pier 1 Imports, Cost Plus, Linens and Things, Home Depot, Lowe's, Bed Bath and Beyond, Old Navy, Office Max, Kohl's, Mervyn's, Michael's, Petco, Sports Authority, Walmart, as well as dozens of other smaller, specialty stores, and many more in development.
Now, that's what I mean by ALL the necessary shopping within a 10-minute drive for a busy, work-at-home, fulltime mom! Another 15 minutes takes me to, among others, a Costco, Best Buy, and Macy's, and another 10 minutes to the Walnut Creek downtown. The two current big news in Brentwood shopping is the new Trader Joe's at Lone Tree Plaza and the development of the the Streets of Brentwood on Sand Creek Road and Highway 4 Bypass.
If you are wondering why it is now difficult to find parking on the Northwest side of Lone Tree Plaza especially during weekends... it's because Trader Joe's is now open! The much-awaited grand opening happened on October 20, 2006.
Moreover, the adjacent Babies 'R Us opened during the second weekend of December, just in time for holiday shopping for the little ones.
The Streets of Brentwood is currently finishing up its design planning and obtaining the necessary permits. They are hoping to start construction this fall, in time for its grand opening next fall, which will coincide with the planned completion of the Highway 4 Bypass and Highway 4 interchange.
Of course, Trader Joe's, Babies 'R Us, and the Streets of Brentwood are not the only exciting new development in town. If you drive around the city, you would notice the construction of new retail establishments all over the place.
Here is some information on other new Brentwood shopping developments.
And, while I imagine that this list would double in the next 2 years, here is my current list of Brentwood shopping by location. I also have a similar list of Brentwood restaurants by location. I hope you find these useful.
