Brentwood Summer

It’s summer!!!

Summer is one of our favorite seasons. Never mind the 90+ degree heat… bright skies, long days, fresh fruits in season, colorful flowers, and outdoor activities always make us feel more alive.

Speaking of fresh fruits, the Brentwood Farmers Market is now held on Saturdays, from 8:00 a.m. – 12:00 noon in Downtown Brentwood (On First Street, between Oak and Chestnut). It starts on May 9, 2009. Fresh cherries, strawberries, other fruits and vegetables are on sale every Saturday. Check out some more information about the Brentwood Farmers Market here.

For the freshest of fresh, why not pick the fruits yourself?
The cherry-picking season usually runs from May to June. Join the hordes of weekend pickers from all over the bay area as they pick fresh cherries, strawberries, and other fruits from over 30 farms in Brentwood and neighboring towns. Or, if you want to beat the crowd, go on a weekday, as some of these farms are also open during the work week. Check my page on Brentwood cherry-picking here.

This year’s Brentwood Corn Festival is on July 10-12, 2009. There is a host of activities and great entertainment during the 3-day event.

General admission is $10 for adults, $5 for seniors 62 and over and for children 16 and under. Admission is free for kids 5 and under! Check the Brentwood Cornfest 2009 website for more details.

The City of Brentwood Parks and Recreation Department also sponsors Starry Nights in Brentwood, an annual summer concert series on Friday nights from 7-9pm at the City Park. Check out the schedule for the 2009 Starry Nights in Brentwood here.
