School is out, graduation ceremonies and parties are mostly over, and the heat is upon us. We see more and more pictures of barbeques, pool parties, vacations, and park play dates on Facebook.
Summer is here!
Below is our (growing) list of events and activities in and around Brentwood
for June, July, and August 2016. If you have an event or activity coming up that’s open to the public, please submit them to us through our Events Website at www.brentwoodevents.com (instead of via email).
The Brentwood Farmers' Market is ongoing through summer - every Saturday from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon. It started back in March 5, 2016 and will be on until November 19, 2016. It’s in Downtown Brentwood, on First and Oak Streets.

The City of Brentwood presents Starry Nights in Brentwood, Summer Concert Series 2016 on Fridays from June 10 – August 26 (except July 1 and 8). The show is from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. and is held at the City Park in Downtown Brentwood. Click here to view the event flyer.

Friday Movies in the Park at Discovery Bay, June 10, 2016 to July 29, 2016 at the Discovery Bay Community Center, 1601 Discovery bay Blvd. Admission is free and all movies begin at dusk. Movies in the Plaza at Oakley Civic Center Plaza. Enjoy a movie under the stars in the heart of Downtown Oakley. Admission is free and movies start at dusk. Bring your blankets and lawn chairs. Snacks available for purchase.

Summer Parks and Public Art Scavenger Hunt in Brentwood, June 12 to June 19, 2016. Explore parks and public art throughout Brentwood! Use your smartphone to complete tasks using photos, answering questions, and GPS check-ins. For more information, check the Brentwood Parks and Recreation Activity Guide.
Friday Night Summer Campfire in Antioch on June 24, 2016 (Friday), from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Antioch Community Center Amphitheater, 4703 Lone Tree Way in Antioch. S’mores, snacks, songs, and stories! There will also be a Fall Campfire on September 23, 2016 (Friday).
The Streets of Brentwood’s Streets Stroll Festival is on June 25, 2016 (Saturday) from 10:00 am to 8:00 pm, and June 26, 2016 (Sunday) from 11:00 am to 6:00 pm. There is no entry fee, and there will be live bands, vendors, food trucks, covered picnic area, games and other family entertainment, and more! Check out the event information here.
Oakley’s Cityhood Celebration is on July 2, 2016 (Saturday) at 6:00 p.m. Freedom Basin Park. Celebrate Oakley’s 17th birthday with jumpies, games, food, music, and fireworks. The Harvest Time Festival is a two-day celebration of the harvest season in Brentwood with all of our local farms and community! Now on its third year, it will be held on July 9 and 10, 2016 at the City Park in Downtown Brentwood. For more information, check out their Event flyer.
The City of Oakley will host its Second Annual Main Street Car Show on July 23, 2016 (Saturday) from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Oakley Civic Center Plaza, 3231 Main Street. Pre-registration is required – space is limited to 50 cars so be sure to register early. Check out the City of Oakley Spring/Summer 2016 Recreation Guide for more details.
The “Hot Brentwood Days” Car Show is on August 6, 2016 (Saturday) at 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. in Downtown Brentwood. The car show will feature local and non-local collectors and restoration artists. Judges will award prizes. There will be a street closure on First, Oak and Chestnut Streets. Food by Brentwood Fine Meats and El Gallito Mexican Food. All Beer & Wine $5 each. Hot August Nights at the Brentwood Family Aquatic Complex, all Saturdays in August 2016: August 6, 13, 20, 27 from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Fee is $2 per person. There will be music, games, themed parties, and night swimming. All the same facility rules apply. Children under the age of 6 must be accompanies by a chaperone 15 years of age or older. Oakley’s 13th Annual Kids Fishing Derby is on August 13, 2016 (Saturday) at the Oakley/Antioch Shoreline Pier. Registration at 8:00 a.m. and the Derby at 9:00-11:00 a.m. It will be afun-filled day of “catch and release” fishing for children and families. Family Sports Day in Antioch on August 13, 2016 (Saturday) 12:00 – 4:00 p.m. at the Antioch Historical Society, 1500 W. 4th Street, Antioch. Suggested donation $5 per person. Fun for the whole family! Tour the Antioch Sports Legends Hall at the Antioch Historical Society and learn about Antioch’s very own sports legends. Bark in the Park, A Dog Parade on August 20, 2016 (Saturday) at 9:00 a.m. at the Brentwood City Park, Corner of Second and Oak Streets in Downtown Brentwood. To register, dogs must be properly licensed, tagged, and current on their vaccinations. All dogs must be on a leash and are encouraged to wear costumes. This event is hosted by the Brentwood Advisory Neighborhood Committee.
The Oakley Summer Concert is on August 20, 2016 (Saturday) 6:00 p.m. at the Civic Center Plaza. Bring your lawn chairs and blankets. Admission is free. For more information, check out the City of Oakley Spring/Summer 2016 Recreation Guide.
