(Concord, February 13, 2015) The Brentwood Farmers’ Market will be back in action on Saturday, March 7 with Northern California’s freshest fruits and vegetables and live music and activities to entertain patrons all summer long. The market runs through November 21, and will be open every Saturday, from 8am to 12pm, on First and Oak St. The entire Brentwood community is invited to join in with a ribbon cutting ceremony at 10:00am with Brentwood city officials. Shawn Lipetzky, Market Manager says, “We’re looking forward to kicking off the season with a bang. We have a lot of great activities and events planned, and of course terrific selections of California produce.” 

This year, the market will expand around the corner onto Oak St. and offer more producers as well as all your old favorites. Shelly’s Farm Fresh, Olio Bello d’Olivo, First Generation Farmers, and Hoggan’s Honey, all from the Brentwood area, will be here, just to name a few Local favorite Nova, will be on hand to kick off the grand celebration with their classic rock covers! Also look for the Contra Costa County Master Gardeners, kids’ booth offering fun activities, JoJo the Clown creating balloon figures, and community groups with local business information.

The market continues to provide Brentwood residents a great way to support local California farmers. So whether you’re looking for earthy asparagus, flowering orchids, flavorful onions, juicy strawberries, Asian greens, or any other spring produce items, you’ll find them at the Brentwood Farmers’ Market. More than two dozen California farmers and other food producers are expected to sell their products in the market on opening day. 

Based in Concord, CA, PCFMA establishes and operates community-supported certified farmers’ markets and other direct marketing outlets. The 501(c) nonprofit focuses on creating viable economic opportunities for California farmers and food producers, emphasizing family farms, local access to farm fresh products, support for local businesses and community organizations, and education concerning food, nutrition and the sustainability of California agriculture. All PCFMA markets accept WIC, FMNP (Woman Infant and Children Farmers’ Market Nutrition Program coupons) and CalFresh EBT (the Golden State advantage food stamp cards).
