The highly anticipated Universal Abilities Playground, located at Veterans Park (3841 Balfour Road) opened February 1, 2013. This custom designed, pirate-themed playground serves children of all ages and abilities. Some features of this unique play structure, which is the first of its kind in the East County, include multi-color rubberized surfacing, wheelchair ramps, interactive panels, an accessible Merry-Go-All, a ‘Rockin Raft’, and much more.
Children with social/emotional, physical, sensory, cognitive and/or communication challenges will all be able to use the equipment at this park. See the graph below for specifics on how this playground benefits each developmental need. The playground was funded by City of Brentwood, the Special Kids Foundation and East Bay Regional Park District Measure WW.
