The Brentwood public library is located near downtown, adjacent to the city park and in the same area as the city hall. It is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday, and from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, and closed on Saturday and Sunday. The library has reading programs for all ages - younger kids from birth to 5 years old, school-aged kids, teens, and adults. All programs are free!
The Oakley public library is located in the Freedom High School Complex. It is open from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday, 2 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Thursdays, 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Fridays, and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturdays.To learn more about the Oakley public library, check out this link.
The Antioch public library at 501 W. 18th Street is open from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Tuesdays, from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Wednesdays and Thursdays, and from 12 noon to 5 p.m. on Saturdays. Here is the link for more information on Antioch library's programs and events.

Another great resource in the area is the Delta First 5 Center in downtown Brentwood. The center provides free programs and services that help make a difference in the most critical years of a child's brain development, ages 0 through 5. The programs are developed to promote early childhood development, school readiness, healthy parent-child relationships, and positive parenting practices. All Inked Up Books and Hometown Memories, a family owned independent bookshop located in Downtown Brentwood. They sell sometimes new, mostly used books as well as book accessories, custom personal gifts, and other things. They have a huge selection of kids and adult books, and is a great place to buy, sell, or trade your books.
All Inked Up Books and Hometown Memories is located at 629 First Street in Downtown Brentwood, close to the Delta Theatre. They are open from Tuesday to Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Barnes and Noble on Slatten Ranch Shopping Center on Lone Tree Way in Antioch is open from 9 a.m. to 11 p.m. Monday to Saturday, and from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Sundays.
It has a huge section for kids, which includes a Thomas the train set and a reading area. They also offer storytime events for pre-school kids (3-6 years) and beginning readers (5-8 years). Check the link to this particular store for the event schedule.
