ART DOCENT PROGRAM
Did you know that art
stimulates creative thinking skills, mathematical skills,
and self-confidence? The Art Docent program provides a
parent-volunteer run series of art lessons for students.
Training, lessons, and
materials are all provided for volunteers to lead a monthly
classroom art project. To make sure your child benefits from
these art lessons, sign up as an Art Docent in your child’s
class during Back-to-School night!

What is an Art Docent?
A volunteer who shows prints of famous artwork
to a class of children, promotes discussion
about the artist through questions, comments,
games and other activities, then facilitates an
art project from the lesson plan and materials
provided. |

To help children become literate in the language
of art by learning about great artists and to
encourage their own creativity and expression
through Hands-on Lessons. |
