What is A Place of Learning?

APOL, as we call it, is a free after school tutoring agency for grades 1st through 6th. We teach mostly Hispanic kids, however everyone is welcome.

What is your mission/vision?

The goal is to connect two communities: Those with gifts to give, and those with needs to be met, people who need a mentor, and volunteers who desire to improve one person’s life. One by one we serve the community by working to meet the educational needs of all. It includes those with learning disabilities, as well as those who need to believe in themselves.

Please give us some information on the organization’s major projects:

We will have our annual fundraiser golf tournament at Shadow Lakes Golf Course,  followed by a dinner dance and silent auctions. This will be on the 19 of April 2013.

How can the community best help your cause, and how can they contact you?

By volunteering to tutor kids. You don’t have to be a teacher, just be willing to give of yourself to others. You can tutor, mentor, train others, administrate, greet, or even just help clean up. You can also help by giving tax deductible donations.
