BUSD Run for Fun'ds

Raising funds to help our children


Mark your calendars! On September 17, 2011, the Brentwood Union School District (BUSD) will hold its 2nd annual walk/jog-a-thon aimed at getting the community together in a fun family event and raising funds for the 10 elementary and middle school sites in the district. It will be held at the fields between Edna Hill Middle School and Garin Elementary School. Registration and pancake breakfast start at 7:15 a.m. and the walk/jog-a-thon will start at 8:00 a.m. so make sure you come early.

Run For Fun'ds is a shared undertaking by the BUSD and supportive parents of the district, benefitting all 10 schools - Adams, Bristow, and Edna Hill Middle Schools, and Brentwood, Garin, Krey, Loma Vista, Marsh Creek, Pioneer, and Ron Nunn Elementary Schools. It is organized by six lovely moms - Lisa Ehrlich, Carrie Ellcessor, Blythe Lind, Janna Stonebarger, Leanne Weibert, and Beth Zeigler. In addition, each of the 10 schools is represented by a dedicated volunteer in the planning and organizing committee for the event.


The goal of the event is to raise money for all 10 schools in the district. As an added incentive, the school with the most registered walkers/runners will be

given an additional $500 - so make sure to pre-register and help get your school that additional cash!


This event is for everyone who wants to help our local schools, so invite your friends and relatives and make it a family day! Pre-registration forms are available through the BUSD, any of the 10 schools, or the BUSD Run for Fun'ds website. The pre-registration fee for each participant is $10. Child registration includes a t-shirt if registered by August 22. Adult registration does not include a t-shirt, but $5 may be added to purchase one. Registration fee on the day of the event is $20. If you are not able to attend the event, you can still help by making a donation or pledge.


The day itself promises to be a lot more fun than just a regular walk/jog-a-thon. There will be food, entertainment, and various fun activities after the walk. Check out what the Principals have in store for you. It's definitely an event not to be missed!


How Can You Help?

Every little bit helps!

  • Pre-register. Forms are available through the BUSD, any of the 10 schools, or here.

  • Volunteer. Sign-up through your school or send an email to

  • Solicit additional sponsorship pledges.

  • If you can, donate more - in cash or in kind.

  • If you have a business, consider a business sponsorship. If you know someone with a local business, tell them about it.

  • Talk about it - ask your friends or fellow parents to join as well - let's make this a big, successful, fun event!
